With a little help… friends, we need your help!
As some maybe already know ca. 4 years ago Basti has adopted a dog named Tena from the >Shelter Friend in Dneproperovsk (Ukraine). Tena was found frozen to the floor at temperatures of around -20° while she had just given birth to some pups. The pups didn’t survive these harsh conditions, Tena was saved and lives now a happy dog life in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The ‘Shelter Friend’ is led by a team of volunteers. The shelter manager is Marina Ravak, who is taking care self-sacrificing of all animals in need and is trying to give them all a second chance. Sometimes she employs not only voluteers but also local homeless people who are paid with food and other things they need.
The conditions for animal rights activists in Ukraine are very hard. There are no laws for the protection of animals and the government is even rewarding every killed estray. The way of killing is often very brutal and many wounded and poisoned animals have to be taken care of.
The shelter itself is in Dneproperovsk, which is not far from the still existing warzone in eastern Ukraine. Many people still flee from the area and they have to leave their pets and farm animals in the zone because animals are not allowed in refugee camps. This is the reason why ‘Shelter Friend’ has not only ‘normal’ estrays but also taken many homeless animals from the war zone and from other shelters which were destroyed from war.
Often the shelter is cut off from the world during winter season because of masses of snow. Therefore the volunteers have to prepare well for the upcoming season and that is why they need to have many materials and food on stock.
Please help and take part in our donation campaign!
So if you have any kind of leftover leashes, food, blankets, etc., kindly pass it to our address below:
If possible please sent the good until August 3rd latest, so we can sent everything in one package to the shelter contact address.
Here is a list of what the shelter needs most and what we can forward:
– Anti-flea, Anti-ticks remedy
– Anti-worms remedy
– Collar and leashes
– Soap and cleaning agent
– Bandaging material, material for infusions
– Winter clothes for men and women
– Wet food for dogs and cats
Of course you can also donate some money via PayPal to one of the following adresses: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
But the most needed thing are lovely people who are willing to adopt a dog or a cat. The animals have almost no chance for a new local home, only as guard dogs or bandogs. If you are interested in adopting please write a message to >their facebook page.
